It happened yesterday, 9 July 2026. The location chosen for the protest against the damage caused by wolves was Gemeentehuis Oldebroek (Netherlands). There, farmers protested against wolf attacks by bringing a trailer full of dead sheep as a shocking sign of protest.
During this demonstration, a shepherd denounced the consequences of a wolf attack on his flock, highlighting the growing discontent over the increase in wolf attacks on sheep. He referred to the publication of studies indicating that wolves in the Netherlands have become the «deadliest in Europe», based on findings that point to an average of 25 animals killed per wild canid each year.

The demonstrators gathered outside Oldebroek Town Hall alongside a trailer containing the carcasses of recently attacked sheep to demand drastic and immediate measures.

The protest took place just three days after the Dutch Government, through State Secretary for Agriculture Silvio Erkens, relaxed the rules to allow the provinces to shoot or drive away aggressive wolves more quickly this summer.
