Red Deer Rutting Season: Hunter Bags an Impressive 27-Point Stag in Andalusia
Without a doubt, the formidable stag taken down by Laure Moreno is one of the most remarkable specimens hunted during this year’s rutting season. Discover how the hunter managed to secure this massive trophy.
The time of the rutting season takes place in the Iberian Peninsula between September and mid-October. This period becomes vital for proper management of deer estates. Game managers must take advantage of these dates to hunt selective animals or those in decline.
Passion for hunting and the countryside
The hunter is defined as a lover and enthusiast of nature, hunting, and everything that surrounds it. He practices both small game and big game hunting. The former occasionally. In big game hunting, he hunts by stalking, waiting, and in driven hunts. According to the hunter, "each of them has its charm. From waiting, I fell in love with the sounds of the forest at night and that aura of mystery that surrounds it. In the driven hunt, I highlight the camaraderie with friends, the ‘migas’, the drawing of lots for hunting spots, the moments of excitement, or those chats by the firelight. All of this makes the Spanish driven hunt unique in the world. Stalking is about overcoming, effort, and perseverance to get that desired game. The reward is immense when you achieve your goal. I dream of being able to pass on my passion for hunting to my children."

Hunting has taken him to 12 countries
The hunter's passion for hunting has led him to travel thousands of kilometers. Among the animals he has hunted are the bear in Canada, the Marco Polo sheep in Kyrgyzstan, the alpine ibex in Austria, the bezoar ibex in Turkey, and the Cape buffalo in South Africa, among other species, as well as deer, wild boars, mouflons, aoudads, and Spanish ibexes in Spain.
He hunts a deer with a dream trophy in a windstorm
The hunter tells us in detail how he bagged this magnificent specimen:
"Despite the strong winds, we ventured out into the field to try to hunt a large male. The wind and the lack of rut were our biggest enemies. From afar, we spotted a stag among the cork oaks. After a complex approach, we managed to get within 100 meters of the stag. I decided to try to shoot it, even though the wind made it extremely difficult to make a safe shot.
We knew it was a great trophy, a large-antlered specimen. I could truly see its dimensions when the bullet from my Blaser R8 professional rifle in .300WM caliber took it down. I had to count its tines twice because I couldn’t believe it had 27 points."
An active defender of hunting on social media
"Seven years ago, I decided to create an Instagram account to share my hunting days and my experiences in the field. The knowledge I’ve acquired over the years through my various adventures around the world has allowed me to help and advise other hunters. Thanks to social media, I’ve met and continue to meet wonderful people. There are currently around 40,000 friends on the account. I want to express my gratitude to all those who support me and encourage me when I’m hunting far from home."
