Incredible Rescue: Officers Save Cow Trapped in Irrigation Canal
The animal fell into an infrastructure designed to transport water for crop irrigation in the town of Guardo, Palencia, Spain. From there, a challenging operation began to return the cow to solid ground.
It happened today in the water canal running through the town of Guardo. The cow ended up in the canal, unaware that it would be impossible to escape the steep concrete ramps that serve as conduits for the water. However, neither the size and weight of the adult specimen nor the added complexity of the environment deterred the agents of Seprona from the Guardia Civil, the Local Police of Guardo and wardens from the Parque Natural de la Montaña Palentina, who participated in the rescue.
The Danger of Irrigation Canals
This animal was unfortunate enough to fall into a large canal. The search for water and refreshment nearly cost it its life. Thanks to the willingness and effort of the agents from various security forces, this cow can return to its herd. On other occasions, we have witnessed how smaller canals have indeed served livestock to quench their thirst and cool off without posing a life-threatening risk.
